Not-for-profit and non-profit can be regarded as terms that are similarly used but the same thing is not meant by them. Profit is not made by both of them but an income may be received to keep up missions of theirs. The income generated by not-for-profit and non-profit is differently used. Income is returned by the non-profit organizations to the organizations in case of extra income generation. Money in excess amount is used by the not-for-profits to make payment to members of theirs functioning for them. Membership is another point of difference between the two. Employees or volunteers are present in the non-profit organizations by whom money is not received from the efforts of fundraising of the organization. A salary may be earned by them for the works done which is not dependent on the fundraised money of the organization.
